Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo And Allen Blue, Co-Founder of LinkedIn Parley On The Need To Deploy ICT in Education


Technology has the capacity to leapfrog any nation from an agrarian society to an advanced one. Having this in mind, the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo has been engaging the big names in tech world. From Google to LinkedIn. The Vice President understands the need for technology to be used in bridging the poverty gap. This he made known at his visit to LinkedIn head office.

At the Fireside chat with Allen Blue, Co-Founder of LinkedIn, The Vice President stated that

“I described the role the role of the recently inaugurated Technology and Creativity Advisory Group to drive policy in tech innovation and entertainment”.

He also added that ” By 2050, Nigeria will have 3rd largest population in the world. We understand that we have to explore ways of delivering education outside of conventional classrooms.”

Nigeria has been in a game of catching up with the rest of the world in deploying ICT solutions to solve basic things like education, finance and others. The LinkedIn visit has been described as the right move at the right time by industry watchers. Capacity building has always been the bane of African countries and it is believed that with collaborations like this, Nigeria would be out of woods in no distance time, in the area of capacity and mass education using technology.
