THE THOUGHT THAT A YOUNG MALE DOCTOR WOULD SEE MY WIFE NAKED IS MAKING ME RUN MAD

I have been arguing with a doctor on the propriety of his insistence that my wife undergoes colonoscopy which is a procedure in which a flexible fibre-optic instrument is inserted through the anus in order to examine the colon. I suspect that the doctor wants to do the test himself or wants to see more than his calling.

Is there a way the doctor would work around the anus without peeping at its neighbour? That’s my problem.

My pain is that there is no way the doctor, a handsome, tall and amụful young man will not “see my wife finish”. He would ask my wife, my darling wife, to “take off your clothes”. And she will obey.

What a torture!

Will the doctor still respect me after the procedure; after seeing ife m ji eko or that in which I glory? He would have seen the revered temple of Ikenga Ezenwegbu.

Ignorant folks would say na mụ na ebe akwa nwaanyị. No! I don’t do that! Ana m eti mkpu nwanyị! Meaning that I not only dey cry for woman, I dey wail for my wife!

You can imagine my ordeal when my wife was being delivered of our children by male doctors. During those periods, I would only come to the hospital after she has been moved to the ward.

Noticing my distress, an experienced matron came to my rescue and calmed me down. She told me that I was not the only one that some men were worse than me. She told me that as a matter of their hospital’s policy that only female radiologists performed colonoscopy on female patients.

For the sake of my rising blood pressure, I insisted on being present while the procedure is conducted fearing that the young doctor could decide to come peep.

No man should be blamed for overprotecting his wife from doctors and pastors. Expecially the dashing ones. They sometimes abuse trust and mindlessly proceed to eat nni ọga or ọga’s food.
