..as mass resignations, defections loom in Imo APGA
Palpable anger is evident among members and officers of All Progressive Grand Alliance in Imo state following what they described as fraudulent manner through which the leadership of the party hoisted Senator Ifeanyi Araraume as governorship candidate on the party.
Following the incident investigations reveal the party will in a matter of days witness serious mass defections and resignations of members and officers at all levels to express their anger.
Most of the party members interviewed disclosed that the process of nominating the candidate ran contrary to the initial plan.
According to them the governorship planned governorship primary was botched three times by the national leadership of the party in order to fraudulently hoist it’s anointed candidate on the party.
Further investigation revealed over ten thousand members of the party were made to pay #10000 for each delegate form to be eligible to participate in the governorship primary.
But after spending such money the party decided to hoist a candidate without conducting the primary again with neither the delegates nor the party officers.
Following the scenario, many party members and officers at state, local government areas and wards have concluded plans to dump the party.
A party official who pleaded anonymity said many of the party executive officers would resign from the party if the party fails to redress the issue of imposition of sen. Ifeanyi Araraume as the candidate.
The former governor. Ikedi Ohakim has in the meantime left the with over ten thousand supporters. Reliable information disclosed that in few days time, majority of the governorship aspirants will make their intentions of leaving the party public.
It will be recalled that Sen.Ifeanyi Araraume was declared winner of non existent governorship primary by the leadership of APGA.
