Stella Oduah: One in a million women

Sen. Stella Oduah Ogiemwonyi (Senator Oduah)Senator Representing Anambra North Senatorial Zone, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Senator. Princess Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi was born to Igwe D.O. Oduah of Akili-Ozizor, L.G.A. in Anambra State on January 5, 1962. Oduah-Ogiemwonyi received her Bachelors and
Masters Degree (in Accounting and Business Administration respectively) in the United States. Upon her return to Nigeria in 1983, she joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
In 1992, she left the NNPC to establish the Sea Petroleum & Gas Company Limited (SPG), an independent marketer of petroleum products in Nigeria.
She was married to the former Minister for Works, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi and has children.

She is an active politician who participated actively to the victory of the immediate past president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Good luck Ebele Jonathan where she served as his campaign director on Administration and Finance; a position she occupied till she contested and won a senatorial election to represent the good people of Anambra North Senatorial Zone.

In 2013 she was one of the delegates chosen by the President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) to attend the Papal inauguration of Pope Francis together with
David Mark, President of the Senate and Viola Onwuliri, Foreign Minister.

In 2015, she was one of 109 senators elected to the 8th assembly. Only seven of these were women. The others were Rose Okoji Oko, Uche Ekwunife, Fatimat Raji Rasaki, Oluremi Tinubu,
Biodun Olujimi and Binta Garba.

She is presently in three committees in the Senate including, Police Affairs, Women affairs and Constitutional Reviews and has contributed immensely in sponsoring so many bills in the senate house.

Her antecedents are too numerous to mention but a few as her active participation and contributions in the senate plenary hasn’t only shown her leadership prowess but has also proven that what a man can do; women can do it much better.
Her programme of activities in the area of women, youths and less privileged empowerment can’t be overemphasized.

Her foundation has stood the taste of time in Anambra North and Anambra State as a whole.

I therefore employ the good people of Anambra North Senatorial Zone to overlook personal tendencies, set our society on the right track by not allowing her dream of a second term to be put to halt.

She’s tasted and trusted for continuity not minding any political platform she may wish to anchor her 2019 second term Senatorial reelection bid.

She’s really a dogged fellow in the struggle. You need to see her talking; always bold, intelligent and balanced!
