Man City will challenge Man Utd for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti

Manchester City have joined Manchester United in the interest for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.

Don Balon says City boss Pep Guardiola is a fan of Umtiti and keen to bring him to England.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is also interested, believing his game is suited to the rough and tumble of the Premier League.

Barca are seeking to open new contract talks with Umtiti. The Catalans particularly want to raise his current buyout clause – which sits at €60m.

For the moment, they’re confident of Umtiti’s commitment, though recognise they are now vulnerable to losing him to any big spending Premier League suitor.
