The Nigerian medical association, the Osun State chapter has given the state government a 21 day ultimatum to access to their need or cripple the state medical sector. This was made known in an interview with From Tokunbo Olajumoke in a telephone interview by Channels TV.
Tokunbo Olajumoke of Osun state medical sector said that the 21 days ultimatum given to the Osun government is due to the singular fact health care is in comatose.
He said that Osun state has the highest mortality rate in the country. He stated that patients are mandated to buy fuel to power generators before they are treated and when they buy these fuel ,these patience end up getting paracetamol . He told Channel TV in a telephone interview .
Olajumoke lamented that the medical practioners especially the doctors in Osun state have their salaries slashed and were paid only 39 percent of their salaries. This has caused a low morale amongst the medical community which has effectively made tertiary medical centres to function as a primary medical centres with the highest patients mortality in the country.
