Lionhearted Genevieve Nnaji has a way of making us revisit her  anytime. Having done a review of her movie LionHeart, Genevieve in that movie raised the bar on what Nollywood  movies ought to look like from henceforth and also she demonstrated how best to market a movie, she waved bye to the Alaba marketers, well those guys are becoming
dinosaurs and relics . She brought her business acumen to merge with her seemingly overflowing artistic skills – a clear migration from acting to producing and now directing.  Not yet done with making news, the sultry and pretty actress announced a big one, the Oscars!

The actress made this announcement using one of her social media handles, she said “The Nigerian Oscar Selection Committee has chosen @lionheartthemovie to represent Nigeria for the 2020 Academy Award for Best International Film! This is the first entry ever for Nigeria. It’s an honor to be a part of such a pivotal moment in the history of Nigerian cinema.”

She added “A moment we know will be replicated as our stories continue to resonate with audiences around the world. On behalf of the entire LIONHEART team and TEN Productions, we are grateful for this recognition and proud to carry the torch. This singular moves according to the industry watchers would put Nigeria on the map. The era of producing wishy-washy movies that are filled with terrible native doctors scenes, depicting Africans in bad light is going.  Genevieve  has raised the standard unless  you would want to go local, but she was not going local… eyes on the international market.

Genevieve captured the Igbo cultural nuances and tried to point out the errors as it is with every other cultures around the world and importantly, she proffered solution to them. Lionheart tells the story of Adaeze Obiagu (portrayed by Nnaji), who wants to substitute for her father, Chief Ernest Obiagu (Pete Edochie), when he can no longer run his company due to health issues.
