The News About The Under-Age Marriage Contracted Between Izuchukwu Igwilo (56) & Miss Chinwe (15) Is Against The Spirit & Letters Of The Child Rights Act, The 1999 Constitution Federal Republic Of Nigeria (As Amended) & Other Extant Laws.

This Under-Age Marriage Stated Above Is A Breach Of The Girl Child Rights As Provided In The Child Rights Act, African Charter On The Rights & Welfare Of The Child, African Charter On Human & Peoples Rights, And, United Nations Convention On The Rights Of The Child, To Mention But A Few.

The Child Rights Act Expressly Provides That A Girl Must Be 18years Of Age Before She Can Lawfully Enter Into Marriage Contract To Enable Her Express His Free Will In Making Decisions About Marriage.

The Marriage Contract Between Mr. Izuchukwu Igwilo (56) And Miss Chinwe (15) Is An Infringement On Chinwe’s Rights Of Association, Dignity & Expression As Enshrined In Our 1999 Constitution FRN (As Amended), Because, Am Convinced That She Was Unduely Influenced Or Subjected Under Duress To Enter Into The Marriage Contract Against Her Wish & Rights, Considering Her Present Age.
