Anambra State, a core state in the East and one of the biggest commercial centres in the country banned the use of motor cycles as a means of commercial transport in the major cities of Onitsha (the commercial city ) and Awka , the capital city leaving Nnewi and other towns to contend with the bikes. But as the bikes are gone the operators of tricycle took over and filled the gaps.
In other to beef up the revenue drive of the state and to meet up the development requirements of the state, it is alleged that the government hiked the levies that is required by the tricycle operators to pay from five hundred naira upwards .

This situation has infuriated the operators and has made them to hit the streets of Onitsha to Protest what they described as high handedness and arbitrary tasking and also describing it as uncalled for.
In the picture the Tricycle operators protests against Anambra state government today over incessant and over taxation from The State government recruited Touts.
The government has promised to look into this situation and fashion out ways to ameliorate their plight.
