NITDA Takes Cyber Threat Consciousness to Osun State

    In a move to empower Nigerians with the knowledge and tips of staying safe in the Cyberspace, create awareness on the menace of Cybercrimes, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) initiated the Cyber Security Sensitization Workshop scheduled to hold across all Geo-Political Zones of the Country, the 5th edition held today at Osogbo, Osun State, South-West Zone.

    The Interactive session had Cyber Security Experts, Academicians, NITDA’s Personnel, State Government representatives and a large turnout of enthusiastic participants.

    In his welcome remarks, the Director General of NITDA, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami FNCS, FBCS, FIIM urged the gathering to take advantage of the knowledge derived from the one-day exercise as a potent tool in combating Cybercrimes.

    The DG stated that the workshop is planned to address knowledge gaps that have heralded individuals falling victims to the tricks of Cyber Criminals, maintaining that recent activities in the Cyberspace revealled that everyone who uses some channel of communication and connectivity such as mobile phones and computers is vulnerable to Cybercrimes.

    Pantami further admonished the assembly to pay more than the usual attention to the Resource individuals as they demonstrate real life scenarios on the Concept and manifestations of threats and vulnerabilities such as Malware, Phishing, Social Engineering and other channels that exploit the ignorance of victims and show how everyone can stay safe and benefit from the use of IT.

    Presentation were made by Mallam Abdulazeez Hassan, Department of Cyber Security, Federal University of Technology Minna and Mr Sheriff Lawanson of Creative Edge Consulting Firm among others.
