NBC talks about World Press Freedom day



World Press Freedom day is an annual anniversary, set aside by UNESCO to celebrate the freedom of the press and also, pay tribute to professionals in the media who have risked or lost their lives in their line of duty.

It is a Day celebrated yearly with a global theme to enable the understanding of various factors challenging the press. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Keeping Power in Check: Media, Justice and The Rule of Law” which highlights the need for a functional legal system that ensures press freedom and prosecution of crimes against journalists.

This year’s theme is also aimed at exploring the importance of transparency and accountability in the media, especially in political processes like elections.

As the world celebrate Press Freedom, the Board, Management and Staff of the National Broadcasting Commission, felicitates with the media across the globe.
