MUGABE: THE BEGINNING OF AN END TO AFRICAN GERONTOCRACY AND DESPOTISM

0

MUGABE Robert, the henchman of Zimbabwe and one of the few strongmen of Africa is in a political quagmire and impasse. Recently , the Zimbabwean military decided to oust him via a bloodless coup which the military have refused to acknowledge that it is a coup! There has been reports that the wife president is in Namibia or outside the country !It is unclear how Ms Mugabe was able to make her escape , but her husband Robert is in Harare under house arrest !

Though, pressures have been on MUGABE to resign his position as the head of state, a position he held for over three decades ! The international community is worried and confused on how to deal with it…with the West trying to have a clean grasp and picture of the situation while the African Union stands aloof and confused on what to do.

As it is now, it is left for the Zimbabwean citizens to decide on what they want! No country or political would want to support a tyrant and a despot ( as they label Robert Mugabe) and also no country would want to support a military intervention in a democratic setup. This is the situation…as it stands now, as it is always with MUGABE, Zimbabwe case is complicated.

With the anticipated resignation of the gerontocracy(MUGABE) it would douse the tension and likely put a political fullstop or question mark on the ambition of his wife Mrs Mugabe, who has been said to be the future president and seriously gunning for it .

Below are pictures of recent happening in Zimbabwe, where citizens are happy for the military intervention.

According to Wikipedia, Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife, much of it within parks, reserves and safari areas. On the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls make a thundering 108m drop into narrow Batoka Gorge, where there’s white-water rafting and bungee-jumping. Downstream are Matusadona and Mana Pools national parks, home to hippos, rhinos and birdlife.
