Lagos already has two sea ports – Apapa and Tincan Island ports. By the time the port at Lekki Free Trade Zone comes up on stream, Lagos will be boasting of another sea port which puts the number at three(3).
We have already seen how the policy that is put in place to ensure that Lagos sea ports is optimised but what is a bit worrisome is if this policy has stifled other others (sea ports) around the country have created wealth and is now creating arrays of problems for Lagos State. (See pictures).
While Lagos is undoubtedly the economic capital of Nigeria, does it mean that other sea ports around the country which would have created wealth for their host states, communities, and adjoining areas should be looked into !
Calabar port I am told has the deepest harbour to anchor bigger ships than Lagos. Port Harcourt and Warri ports are all viable but we know why they have continued to lie prostate?
