The Inaugural Edition of 1997 Theatre Arts Alumni Lagos Chapter Held At O’Jeez

In a bid to give back to the society, the Lagos Chapter of Theatre Arts Department of Imo State University,  Owerri converged for the first time to discuss and brainstorm on the best ways to go e back to the society and network. The event was held at O’Jeez outdoor bars ,located at the premises of National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.

 

With an agreeable weather, superb environment and pleasant faces. The Lagos chapter of the Alumni members met for the first time. The maiden edition was meant to discuss on ways forward, network amongst member and chart a new course for the association.

In his opening remarks, Sammy Anokam, the convener of the event said ” After so many years of graduating from the school, there is a need  to have a reunion get-together for the first time. This reunion will avail us the opportunity to network, discuss on pressing issues and above all give back to the school that groomed us” .

 

In support of  his position, Chidimna Ezeji , the Lagos Chapter administrator and facilitator said that ” we are pleased to be here, a lot of old memories have been brought back and we hope that this association will not be a one off thing. We have discussed, deliberated and argued over some issues in our social media platforms. We are here physically after a decade of our graduation for the first time. We hope that this avenue will make us look back and say thank you to the school that made us ” she concluded.

 

In addition to the remarks, Oscar Ochiogu opined that , it will be a noble thing if the association will think of some charitable works. With combined working experience of the chapter ranging from insurance to banking ,from banking to media .  “We hope that with this maiden edition, we will start thinking of how to give back to the school and others that might need our expertise. A lot of university students are confused on what next to do and how to go about it. We can show them the way ,in our own little effort ” he added.

 

The 1997 set of theatre arts Alumni of Imo State University is th third set too graduate from the department after full accreditation by Nigerian Universities Commission. The event was attended by some Lagos chapter members like Ijeoma Okonkwo, Ngozi Nzeribe, Chidinma Ezeji ,Oscar Ochiogu, Anthony Nwosu and a host of other well wishers.
