Kashamu not excluded from PDP National Convention

The attention of the media office of the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu, has been drawn to a report in Tribune of today, 8th August, 2017, which stated that the lawmaker has been excluded from attending the National Convention of the PDP scheduled for Saturday.

The report was nothing but a figment of the imagination of an over-excited reporter who was doing the hatchet job of his paymasters as there was nowhere the issue of Senator Kashamu’s exclusion from the National Convention was mentioned in the six-point communiqué issued at the end of the purported South West PDP Zonal Executive and Stakeholders meeting held in Ibadan last Monday.

What is more, Article 57 (7) of the Constitution of PDP says, “Notwithstanding any other provision relating to discipline, no Executive Committee at any level, except the National Executive Committee, shall entertain any question of discipline as may relate or concern a member of the National Executive Committee, Deputy Governors or members of the National Assembly.”

If not that the writer of the report was openly showing of his folly, he should have known that the mere fact that the same report stated that some of Senator Kashamu’s associates were listed as members of various committees in the National Convention Planning Committee was enough reason for him to know that the purported exclusion existed only in his warped imagination.

Senator Kashamu has been a financial member of the PDP, a mobiliser and one of its strongest pillars and foot soldiers. Unlike the loudmouth who speaks from both sides of his mouth and hops from one political party to the other, Senator Kashamu has been in the PDP since he joined partisan politics. And he won’t be pushed out by anyone, especially those whose only claim to leadership is the office they occupy and not some demonstrable leadership qualities; stripped of the ephemeral paraphernalia of office which they will soon be without, nobody reckons with them.

Therefore, we wish to urge concerned leaders, elders and supporters of the Senator across the South West not to be troubled. There is nothing to the dust being raised by the noisemaker and his puppets. It is no more than a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. It is of no moment, whatsoever. No shaking!
