Politically speaking he is a master strategist! John Oyegun recently marked his 80th birthday and the Vice President Osibanjo used that opportunity to explain to Nigerians how John as he is fondly called by peers has been of great service to the party (APC) and the country at large.
Taking to his social media page, the Vice President said “You will often find Chief John Oyegun on the right side of history. He was founding member of AD, member of NADECO, founding member of APC and the first chairman of APC who led the party to victory in 2015.”
“Happy 80th Birthday to Chief John Oyegun. For someone who has been involved in Nigerian politics for a really long time he manages not to look like a politician.”
Having made great strides in the politics of the Niger Delta region , especially that of his home state – Edo. According to sources, Wikipedia profiles John Odigie Oyegun (born 12 August 1939) as a Nigerian politician who is serving as the first national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria. He was also the Executive Governor of Edo State between 1992 and 1993, during the aborted Nigerian Third Republic.
