…as court awards 5billion naira damages in his favour.
The Anambra State high court Onitsha, few hours ago delivered a judgement in the case between Mokwe Bonaventure and Peter Obi.
The suit was over the demolition of Upper Class Hotel Onitsha, arrest and torture against Mokwe.
Mokwe dragged Obi/Anambra state to the state high court Onitsha in 2013, over the demolition of Upper Class Hotel Onitsha by Obi administration who alleged that flesh human was discovered in the hotel.
Allegedly, Chief Mokwe was subsequently arrested, detained and tortured for 3 months without trial.
Chief Mokwe has been in the court since 2013, insisting that he is innocent of the whole allegation.
In a hot seat guest programme where Mokwe appeared on APGA Interactive Forum, he maintained that it was his enemies that planted the human heads in his hotel and wondered why the state govt demolished his hotel less than two hours after the discovery without any form of investigation.
Delivering judgement this morning, the learned judge granted Mokwe his prayers and awarded a five billion naira damages in his favour.
We are yet to get the reactions from Peter Obi on whether he will pay Mokwe the court awarded 5 billion naira damages or appeal the judgement.
This judgement implies that govs with immunity can also pay for actions they undertook while in office.
