Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital is set to play host to over 1000 attendees for the 2018 Google Developers Festival, South-South Edition – (DevFest 2018).
This is the biggest community driven conference run by group of developers who share a passion for Google’s developer technology scheduled for November 16, 2018 at Je-nissi Event Center, #7 Akpaube Str. Off IBB Avenue, Uyo.
Themed “Digital Access and Inclusive Economic Growth”, it is organized by GDG Uyo with the support of 4 GDGs around South-South Nigeria (Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri and Bonny Island), brings together world class experts to Uyo.
The 1 day event will feature keynote talks, breakout sessions, code-labs, workshops and product showcase to be hosted by 18 carefully selected tech personalities. They include, Hanson Johnson (Start Innovation Hub), Mark Essien (Hotels.ng), Aniedi Udobong (Google Nigeria), Celestine Omin (Paystack), among others.
The aim of the GDG DevFest South-South conference is to share knowledge, exchange ideas and network with other like-minded developers from all over the world in one space.
Developers and entrepreneurs from within and outside Nigeria will come together to learn and share their experience about Android, Chrome, Cloud, Machine Learning and more technologies in the phenomenal atmosphere.
Speaking during the Press Conference held today at Start Innovation Hub, Ibom e-Library, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nsikak Thompson, the Lead Organizer GDG Uyo, said “As we all know, accessibility is the key to technology and we are trying to outgrow accessibility manually. With everything that has been bundled and cooked up for this event, we will actually show participants ways that actually makes it accessible digitally”.
“In terms of inclusive economic growth, its first employment, business opportunities, companies coming up and a whole lot of things are happening around where people’s mind are prone to that point where we can think about more we can do with our time. The Developers Conference is not strictly for tech guys but people who would also love to use technology to improve whatsoever business they are doing”, He added.
This event would be open to students, graduates, young school leavers, designers, software engineers, tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, tech companies across south-south, Nigeria.
Attendees will gain insight into latest Google technology tools and futuristic innovations by Google, network with revered tech experts in Africa during the event. More so, they will have the opportunity to pitch their product and brilliant ideas to potential investors who are ready to offer start-up supports to winners.
This year’s edition of DevFestSS will be ticketed, and ticket prices are as follows: Students – N500 (jotter), Regular – N1,000 (tea cup) and N2,000 (I LOVE DFSS T-shirts).
