Between Ghana and Nigeria – Ghanaian varsity sacks Nigerian professor over alleged ‘inciteful comments’

Reactions across the border of both Nigeria and Ghana have continued to trail what is now a diplomatic friction following the dark of a Nigerian proffessor of English from a Ghanian varsity over his utterances at a Nigerian outdoor gathering.

The Ghanian news report reads: *”The University of Education (UEW) has, with immediate effect, sacked its visiting Nigerian lecturer, Prof. Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara over comments he made in a video that has since gone viral”.*l

Earlier reports revealed that Prof. Nwagbara was arrested on Tuesday June 18th, for allegedly inciting the Nigerian community in Ghana to devise strategies that will destroy Ghana’s image internationally though he was then later granted bail.

The university had released a statement on Wednesday June 19th, stating that the comments by the lecturer were inimical to the country’s educational sector, hence his dismissal.

The Ghanian media, radio stations, TV stains and electronic print media have featured the story with many debating the steps taken against the professor while others supported it.

The majority of Nigerians online, on the other hand agrees with *the professor who spoke at length about the poor treatment of many Nigerians in Ghana, the lack of organization and help centers for Nigerians and of course the curbing of Nigerian criminals to prevent them from further staining the reputable image of Nigeria and law abiding citizens.*

He also delved into a bit of *Nigeria – Ghana politics and history, he accused the current leadership of Ghana of not doing enough to protect innocent Nigerians.*

Watch attached video to hear more of what the professor said during what was meant to be a Nigerian gathering, however an attendant had recorded him and leaked the video to the Ghanian press.

*Many Nigerians have reign curses on the mischievous individual that leaked the video.*
