From Casablanca With Love, Nigeria Morocco New Found Relationship And Others

0

It was a two day visit and the president of Nigeria was in Morocco for two days! A worthy sacrifice and move for African unity and Union . He used the opportunity to also  straighten the bilateral relationship with the “North” African kingdom, very soon the kids in Africa would be confused on how to classify the country of Morocco whether it is a North or West African nation, that is if their plea to join ECOWAS sails through. Let’s forget geography and focus ! The narrative might change

But apart from the agro agreement of phosphorus or is it phosphate, they the Morocco produces much of this and we as usual would buy much of this ! That’s it ! Kumbaya , we always buy they always produce or would the plant be established in Nigeria, these are the details that we haven’t known yet, but we must admit ,this is a milestone for the president and he did a good one.

The two Heads of State also noted progress made in other areas of the bilateral cooperation, as evidenced by the Agreement between OCP of Morocco and the Fertiliser Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria to invest in Fertiliser Production; and the Memorandum of Understanding between OCP and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority on the establishment of a Basic Chemicals Platform, specifically to develop a significant Ammonia Production Plant.

King Mohammed is a good host and now a good friend, we have fallen for his hospitality and benevolence! From Casablanca with love , we have fallen in love with Morocco yapata , they promised us goodies and gave us the right of way for the oil pipeline to move from Nigeria all the way to Europe ! I mean from Niger Delta to Europe, now whatever these Niger Delta militants do, wouldn’t and can’t stay in the creek any more . Once the Europeans get hold of our pipelines, whatever these militants do would be a regional issue…so my Niger Delta boys forget our “oyel” go and work and don’t be a lazy youth. We now have greater stakeholders here , the earlier you guys know that the narrative has changed the better for all of us , the greater peace loving Nigerians .

We have advantage and it is that ,  this pipeline arrangement/agreement would give Nigeria bigger presence maybe something like the Russian situation and Caspian sea region. The Russian has wielded so much authority and presence that other countries that buy gas from Russia are forced to overlook a whole lot of things done by Russia and Europe to a large extent is tolerating Russia.  Russian gas  buyers have learnt not to mess up in front of Russia , in short they have understood that Russia must be respected . Now if this pipelines deal sails through as alleged, Nigeria would grow more powerful regionally and financially. It’s a good one !

The gas deal might or  would facilitate the re entrance of Morocco to critical organization like AU and ECOWAS, might just be like a man “reentry” to his wife, maybe easy apologies to feminists . But would Morocco’s reentry in African Union be smooth or would it be like a rocket reentry to the orbit that comes with fire ? Well let’s see.

According to a statement by a Nigerian online journal Daily Post , it puts it this way “Mohammed and President Buhari noted with satisfaction the milestones achieved and underscored their commitment to the Regional Gas Pipeline, which will connect Nigeria’s gas resources, those of some West African countries and Morocco, thereby fostering integration and development of countries in the West African region.”

Now back to ECOWAS and AU there is this issue of Western Sahara, would Morocco to recognize Western Sahara? doing that might mean too bitter pill to swallow and a time would come and  Nigeria might be recognize Biafra and that is what Nigeria do not want to hear and the same thing might happen to Cameron too! , if AU pulls this stunt, then I can confidently say that the scrotum of AU has grown impressively to impregnate! Would they do that ? Let’s watch this conjugation.

ECOWAS is a dicey and funny one, the Morocco wants to join but after the hiatus of staying away and wondering what the hell is a North African country doing in ECOWAS? Well that is them, maybe rules have changed , narratives have evolved so admission Morocco might have , Nigeria has been running amok in ECOWAS, assisting and bluffing  those they want to and loving those they choose to, in short Nigeria is seen as big bro in ECOWAS where tiny countries like Togo , Benin and Gambia that doesn’t even know their left from right, if Nigeria sneezes these tiny nations , Ghana inclusive gets flu , but not bird flu! But flu they would get one we sneeze. This is an elitist position, in short it is an exclusive club that Nigeria is  the only member.  If Morocco enters ECOWAS “party” this  would be jeopardized weather Nigeria loves it or not.  If Nigeria allows Morocco in, then Nigeria allows herself in as a second fiddle or goes to the room of irrelevance! Morocco is richer, more organized that Nigeria , forget patriotism here let’s face the fact and admitting them in ECOWAS to me would be akin to shooting oneself on the foot . Would we do that ?

Congratulations to the president on two front , the Nigerian Morocco relationship and June 12
