A delegation from France Media Monde, led by Arnzid Dornon, head of operation, French Embassy, Abuja, Nigeria , today, paid a visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The purpose of the visit, is to have a better understanding of the Nigeria Media sector and in particular the Digital Switch Over process.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the DG, NBC, Mall. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, the Director, Investigation and Enforcement, Mr. Olufemi Ayeni , welcomed the team to the NBC.
While giving a brief overview of the Commission’s activities, Mr. Ayeni, stated that Nigeria has a vibrant broadcast industry and the NBC’s regulatory activities has gone quite well and will continue to grow the industry.
On the Digital Switch Over process in Nigeria, the Director General’s representative, pointed out that six (6) states in the country including the Federal Capital Territory have gone digital and the Nigerian Government, for easy coverage of the whole country, decided that the Digital Switch Over be done in phases. He added that NBC, will continue to learn from countries like France that have already gone digital.
Mr. Olufemi Ayeni, further stated that the Commission looks forward to areas of cooperation and collaboration with the France Media Monde.
