The elections have come and gone, the winners have been recognised and certificates of return given. Like a Northern star, Ike Ekweremadu has come to show a new brand of politics, having demonstrated political finesse and sagacity which is becoming “endangered” in our climes. Ike as he is fondly called by the admirers has been given his certificate of return which has shown the confidence his people has bestowed on him to lead them the next four years.

As the present Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has shown that he has his people’s backing and love. Receiving the certificate, he said “I received a Certificate of Return today as Senator-Elect, Enugu West Senatorial District. Congratulations to all my fellow Senators-Elect and profound gratitude to Nigerians, especially the good people of Enugu West for their support and confidence reposed in me.”

As a man of his people, his constituents and the South Eastern part of the country has poured encomiums on him . Chioma Cyprian said “Congratulations Your Excellency. The People of Enugu West Zone never had it so good. Thanks be to God who returned you to the 9th Senate be all the glory. “

Charles Okom added that “Your victory is very well deserved and particularly very important at this challenging moment in our democracy. It is equally very important given your wealth of experience which is needed for our collective prosperity.”

John Nweze said “This is my Senator with high legal and parliamentary knowledge, experience and grassroot support. Congratulations again and May the Lord be with you through out this 9th Senate.”

As Ekweremadu goes to the senate , it is believed that his legislative knowledge and a career as a lawyer would be brought to bare. Over the years , he has used his position to attract tangible projects that his people can relate to from facilitation of education institutions to creating and facilitating bills that would better the lives of his people and South East as a whole. One of such bills is South East Development Commission.
