Botemac Collaborates With Helen Genius In Cassava Processing Value Chain Workshop

Agriculture has been identified as one of the realistic avenue that Nigeria would use to diversify. The sector has also been identified as one of the sectors that can employ the masses ranging from cultivation down to the value chain such and processing, marketing and finishing

In this line, Botemac ,one of the leading Agro allied player in the Niger Delta region is in collaboration with Helen Genius to offer farmers capacity building program in cassava processing and value chain.

It has been realised that over fifty percent of agro allied products in Nigeria are lost due to wastages and in appropriate storage. Coupled with poor marketing and finishing, a situation that has reduced the return on investments (ROI) for farmers. This seminar and workshop would expose farmers and stakeholders the modern ways to maximize their profits.

Also included in the workshop are the management part of cassava business such as business proposal writing , record keeping , product labelling, processing and many more.

According to the organisers of the workshop ” we intend to use this program to expose the Nigerian farmers the various ways that they can run a profitable venture and at the same time exposing them to the business aspect of farming that is different from the basic cultivation and take to end users” they said.

Cassava, apart from the processing it into garri, fufu and starch has many other industrial uses which can be a money spinner for the farmers . The flour produced from the cassava plant, which on account of its low content of noncarbohydrate constituents might well be called a starch, is known in world trade as tapioca flour. It is used directly, made into a group of baked or gelatinized products or manufactured into glucose, dextrins and other products.
