In bid to drive judiciary to a higher level of efficiency, Anambra has recorded another first by swearing in the first female judge in the state.Hon. Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu was today sworn in as the Acting Chief Judge of Anambra State.
Hon Justice Onwuamaegbu who took over from the former Chief Judge, Hon Justice Peter Umeadi has made history as the first female Chief Judge since the creation of the state. Though the state has once had a female governor in the me of Mrs. Etiaba, Anambra State seems to be the only state in Nigeria to ever been governed by a woman! This has strongly demonstrated that the state is gender neutral and also has a high gender equality. Two out of the elected three senators that would represent Anambra are women and these Amazons have been doing that over a decade. With the swearing in of the Judge , Anambra can be said to have crossed the Rubicon of gender biased state.

Governor Obiano also assured the Acting Chief Judge of his administrative support to enable her deliver on her new mandate.
Going by the name “Light of the Nation” Anambra State has shown that it is a state that is gender neutral and also understands the critical positions women are to play in the state. Anambra can be said to have completed the evolution in an all inclusive governance .
