Youths are the pillars upon which the future of every society is built. This is due to the strength, creativity and potentials that they hold. Having said this, the Akwa Ibom Youth Bill is designed to cater for this critical mass and economic builders. In a state that is mostly youth, the need to keep these youths busy and bringing up their entrepreneurial skills becomes imperative. This situation is what the Akwa Ibom Youth Bill is meant to address .

With the snail pace of implementation of novel projects in part of the Divide, it is assumed that this bill would kick start an economic revolution in the state and a departure from the norm which is- oil and gas . Considering these lofty tendencies, not only will they outlive today’s leaders, but will also initiate plans and efforts that will birth massive development in the society.

Speaking on the importance of the Bill, Hanson Johnson , an indigene of the state and the founder of one of the vibrant incubation hubs in the region, Start Innovation Hub said, “The reality of a greater Akwa Ibom rests on the shoulders of a vibrant and resourceful youth population. ”

He added “With AKYDF, the full utilization of these youthful energies and rich heritage is certain.”

“That is why we believe and trust that our youth-loving Governor Udom Emmanuel will lead in the realization of this dream by assenting and implementing the AKYDF Bill”, Johnson concluded.

The bill has the capacity to leapfrog the economic diversification of the state from oil and energy based to other things like ICT, agriculture, hospitality and other things. If this bill is implemented, it would bridge the capacity gap in the area of skills. With this Youth Bill, it is believed that it would be a thing that would put an end to youth restiveness and to a larger extent bring down the crime rate drastically because “the idle mind is the devil’s workshop.”
